Curriculum and Accommodations
Your child will receive academics using a modified curriculum in reading, math, science, and social studies unless stated different in their personal schedules. Accommodations will be given during testing as written in your child’s IEP.
Attendance
Student attendance is very important for your child’s learning. If your child is absent they will receive a folder of their missed work and have 1 week to complete it as homework.
Grading
Your child will receive a quarterly report card showing their grades and current performances. They will also receive quarterly progress reports showing their current status towards their IEP goals. Students will be graded based on their performance and testing using a modified curriculum.
Jobs
Some 11th and 12th grade students will be given jobs in the field outside of school for them to complete. Please make sure your child is at school for job days. Job schedule will be given soon. Jobs will take place during school hours of 1st-3rd period.
Field Trips
All students will be taking monthly field trip to learn real world skills. Some field trips may involve going to a grocery store and learning to buy groceries with a budget. Also possible job interviews.
Parties
I will be having parties to celebrate certain holidays. More information will be given closer to time of holidays. Students are allowed to celebrate their birthdays at school. Please give me a heads up if you plan to bring cupcakes to celebrate your child’s birthday.
Homework
Most nights your child will be bringing home homework in reading and math. Homework is not for a grade. It is for your child to receive extra practice on the skills that were taught during the school day. All homework will be written in your child’s student planner and will be placed in a take home folder. This folder needs to be brought back to school every day. Homework will also be posted on my website.
